Our History
We began in June 1990 as a mission outreach of the Brooks Avenue Church of Christ near downtown Raleigh. Encouraged, staffed, and financially supported by the Brooks Avenue leadership and congregation, our original 56 members included two former elders, six former deacons, and a strong contingent of teachers and workers.
Our opening moments proved fast-paced, somewhat unconventional, and definitely inspiring. We originally met in the banquet room of a local motel and then met in a storefront in the Litchford Village Shopping Center for six years.
Since then...
- We acquired eight and a half acres of land on Falls of the Neuse Road, centrally located in our primary outreach area.
- We raised the needed funds to build a new worship center on the property. The new building was opened in July of 1996.
- Additions to the upstairs were completed in early 2001, adding 8000 square feet to our church building.
- We have employed a full-time minister to help focus our efforts at ministry and outreach.
- In October 2002 we added a part-time Children's Minister as we continue to focus on the needs of families with children.
- In October 2005 we added a full-time Youth Minister.
- We've appointed many Deacons to help facilitate the various ministries of the congregation.
- An additional staff person maintains the Church office and takes care of daily administration.
Our membership has increased by five times and we continue to grow, excited about the opportunity to serve God and minister to the community in North Raleigh.
